Samsung announced another addition to its M series smartphones in India, the Galaxy M33 5G, on Monday. The phone is powered by an octa-core processor based on a 5nm process, gets a 120Hz high refresh rate display and comes with a 6000mAh battery.
The phone is priced at ₹18,999 for the 6GB+128GB variant and ₹20,499 for the 8GB+128GB variant but will be available at ₹17,999 and ₹19,499 respectively as a special introductory price. Sales start from April 8 at 12 PM on Samsung.com, Amazon,in and select retail stores.
The Galaxy M33 5G also boasts a quad-camera setup at the back with a 50MP primary camera and loops in extra features such as Single Take, video noise remover and an Object Eraser, much like the Pixel 6. The front gets an 8MP camera with AR mode.
THere’s also a cooling technology introduced in the phone called Power Cool Tech. Samsung claims that it’ll keep heating issues away even after continued use as the phone is mainly designed for mobile gamers and heavy video callers.

Performance
The phone gets the Exynos 1280 chipset based on a 5nm process and has eight cores clocking at 2.4GHz. RAM options are limited to 6 or 8GB with a RAM Plus feature that can pull in storage from the 128GB eMMC5.1 storage to get a maximum RAM of 16GB. While storage might be limited, there’s a dedicated microSD card slot for those who want more storage.

Display
There’s a 6.6-inch FHD+ display (1080 x 2408 pixels) running at 120Hz for a smoother viewing experience. However, since it’s LCD, the colour accuracy should be just about alright. You also get Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to protect against scratches.
Cameras
The phone boasts a quad-camera setup at the rear with the following cameras.
- 50MP F1.8 main camera
- 5MP F2.2 ultrawide camera
- 2MP F2.4 macro camera
- 2MP F2.4 depth camera
The front camera is a simple 8MP F2.2 wide-angle camera with a teardrop notch in the middle. Other features include an object eraser to remove background objects, Video TNR (temporal noise reduction) and a single take mode.
Battery
There’s a 6000mAh battery powering the phone, which comes with 25W wired fast charging. The phone also supports reverse charging over USB-C to share power with other devices.
Software and extras
Samsung is launching the phone with its Android 12-based One UI 4.1. Other than that, there’s Knox security built into the phone to help protect against malware and other hazards. The company is claiming two years of OS upgrades and four years of security updates for the device.
