Imagine this, you’re in a tight 1v4 situation, and you just have to clutch the game. You enter the bombsite and enemies are dropping left and right when suddenly, out of nowhere, you stepped on a gun and before you know it, the weapon in your hand changes.

Your focus gets messed up, not to mention your shots as well. You lose the round and punch the wall in anger. Next thing you know you’re resting your sprained arm.

Auto weapon pickup is enabled by default in CSGO and can be quite annoying sometimes. Don’t get me wrong; it’s a great feature for newcomers who often fail to keep an eye on their inventory. However, for the more seasoned players, it’s more of a hurdle.

In this article, we’re going to take a look at how to turn off auto pick up in CSGO, more specifically, how to prevent your weapon from switching when you’ve run over another.

However, just like everything else in CSGO, there’s a console command for this too. Should you decide to go that way, here’s how you can turn off auto pickup in CSGO via console in-game.

Step 1: When in-game, click on ‘~’ key to open the developer console

Step 2: Type in the following command to disable auto switch on weapon pickup.

cl_autowepswitch 0

Should you want to enable auto-switch again, use this command

cl_autowepswitch 1

These console commands are great for testing whether or not you like the setting in-game without having to open the menu and navigate to the Item tab to set your preference.
