How to unblock someone on Twitter?

If things go awry online and someone starts bullying you Twitter allows you to block them. However, if you’ve blocked a friend, colleague or a family member on Twitter in the heat of the moment during an argument online and want to unblock them or have just blocked someone by mistake on the platform, you can do that in a few simple steps.

When you block someone on Twitter, they won’t receive any direct notification from Twitter if you block them, they will know that you’ve blocked them if they visit your profile. Though, if it’s a mistake, you better hurry and unblock them.

How to unblock someone on Twitter via PC?

Login to your account on Twitter.com, go to the profile of the user you want to unblock and use the first method or go to the second method to unblock multiple users via Twitter settings.

Method 1: Via user profile

Step 1: Hover over the Blocked button and it will convert to Unblock. Click on the button and continue to the next step.

Step 2: On the confirmation pop-up box, click on the Unblock button.

The user will be unblocked and you’ll be able to see their tweets, interact with them and follow them; they can follow you as well as interact with you.

Method 2: Via Twitter settings

Step 1: Click on the More option in the side panel to the left of the screen on your homepage.

Step 2: From the list of options, select Settings & Privacy.

Step 3: On the next page, select Privacy and safety under Settings in the middle column. Then scroll down a bit and click on Blocked accounts under Safety.

Step 4: On the next page, scroll to the user you want unblock and click on the Blocked button beside their profile.

The user will be instantly unblocked, you’ll see a confirmation notification at the bottom of the screen (refer to the screenshot below) and a Block button will appear instead. Click on the same button again to block the Twitter user if you didn’t intend to unblock them.

How to unblock someone on Twitter for Android and iOS?

Open the Twitter app on your Android or iOS device, go to the profile of the user you want to unblock and use the first method or go to the second method to unblock multiple users via Twitter settings.

Method 1: Via user profile

Go to the user’s profile and follow the steps below to unblock them.

  • Tap on the Blocked button near the top of the page, to the right of the user’s profile picture.
  • From the options that appear at the bottom of the screen, select Unblock @username.

Method 2: Via Twitter settings

Go to the your homepage (also called news feed or timeline) and follow the steps mentioned below to unblock someone or multiple users via Twitter settings quickly.

  • Tap on the hamburger (triple-bar) icon at the top-left of the screen on the homepage.
  • From the options that appear on the left side panel, tap on Settings and privacy.
  • On the next page, tap on Privacy and safety.
  • Scroll down on the next page and under Safety tap on Blocked accounts.
  • On the next page, scroll to the user you want unblock and tap on the Blocked button beside their profile.
  • They’ll be instantly unblocked and a Block button will appear instead. Tap on the same button again to block the Twitter user if you didn’t intend to unblock them.

As mentioned above, the user will be unblocked and you’ll be able to see their tweets, interact with them and follow them; they can follow you as well as interact with you.
