Clash Royale, the popular real-time strategy game developed by Supercell, is known for its dynamic gameplay and strategic depth. The Star Level system is an intriguing feature that adds a touch of personalisation to the game.

What are Star levels?
Star Levels are a cosmetic upgrade for cards in Clash Royale, offering a visually enhanced version of your favourite troops, spells, and buildings. Introduced as part of the April 2019 update, Star Levels allow players to showcase their dedication and progress with specific cards. You can upgrade the Star level of a card by using the Star points.

What do Star levels do?
When you deploy cards with a single Star Level, they shine bright gold. As you progress to higher Star Levels, these cards start featuring additional golden effects like particles, and their sprites in battle get golden elements added to their clothing, armour, weapons, or other components.
It’s important to note that Star Levels don’t affect how cards interact with each other during battles; their impact is purely cosmetic. Currently, all non-Champion cards come with at least one Star Level, and some even boast two or three.
How to obtain Star Points?
- Unlocking Star points: Once players reach King Level 6, they can start earning Star Points, visible in the Experience bar at the top right corner. Players can toggle between Star Points and Experience.
- Get rewards for max-level cards: If your King’s Level is below 50, gaining Experience through card donations and upgrades will also earn you Star Points in equal measure. Acquiring max-level cards, whether through chests or trades, rewards players with Star Points alongwith gold bonuses (1 for each Common, 10 for each Rare, 100 for each Epic, 1,000 for each Legendary, and 2,000 for each Champion).
- Purchase max-level cards: When purchasing max-level cards from the in-game shop, these cards are instantly transformed into Star Points. Additionally, as the cards that overflow convert to gold, half of the gold spent is refunded. For non-legendary cards, this translates to 1 Star Point for every 5 Gold spent, while for Legendary cards, players receive 1 Star Point for every 20 Gold spent.
- Use trade tokens: Using Trade Tokens to gain Star Points instead of allowing them to convert into Gold is a more cost-effective approach. It grants 1 Star Point for every 1 Gold spent on non-legendary cards and 2 Gold for each Star Point on Legendary cards.
It’s essential to note that cards collected in sufficient quantities for a max-level upgrade but not yet upgraded do not contribute to Star Points.

How to upgrade the Star level of a card?
Here are the steps to upgrade the star level of a card on Clash Royale:
- Open the Clash Royale on your device, tap on the Collection tab at the bottom and then tap on the Collection tab at the top to access your card library.
- Tap on the card whose star level you want to upgrade, then tap the Info button.
- Tap on the Star Level 1 button.
- The Star Level of the card will be upgraded.
