How to fix can’t delete apps on iPhone issue?

Restart your iPhone

When you restart your device, the files get flushed, and the device starts afresh. For minor technical bugs, restarting your iPhone is the best solution.

Press and hold the power button, then swipe the slider to turn off your iPhone. After that, long-press the power button again to boot it again.


Update iOS

Ensure that you have the latest iOS version installed on your iPhone. The latest version might contain patches to fix the minor bugs. Also, keeping the iOS updated fixes various security issues.

Head to Settings > General > Software Update to see the latest update. After that, tap on Download and Install.

Enable Deleting Apps from settings

Iphones have a specific setting that disallows you to delete apps. If this setting is enabled, you will have issues deleting apps.

Here’s how to check this setting:

  • Head to Settings > Screen Time > Content and Privacy Restrictions.
  • Next, tap on iTunes and App Store Purchases.
  • Tap on the Deleting Apps option and then select Allow.

If you still can’t delete the apps, after heading to Settings > Screen Time > Content and Privacy Restrictions, turn off the toggle in front of Content and Privacy Restrictions.


Delete offloaded apps

Iphones also have the Offload Apps feature that allows you to remove an app but keep the data so that you won’t have problems remembering the exact settings the next time you install the app. You can continue where you left off.

To permanently delete offloaded apps, follow the instructions given below:

  • Head to Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
  • Scroll to the bottom and then tap on Show All.
  • Scroll to the bottom again and tap on the offloaded app marked with a cloud icon.
  • Tap on Delete App and confirm the process by selecting Delete App again.
