A simple yet effective method to resolve most of the basic issues with the devices is to restart them; it solves minor issues and temporary system glitches that might be repeatedly turning off the iMessage on your device.

Check your internet connection

iMessage needs an active internet connection to work properly; a weak or unstable internet connection is one of the most common causes of iMessage’s turning-off issue. Make sure your device is connected to a reliable network. Restarting your router or modem may also help.

Check the System Status

At times, the iMessage server may stop working due to different reasons. You can visit the Apple System Status page to check if the server is functioning properly. You can use iMessage as usual once you confirm the server is okay.
