Microsoft released the first preview build of Windows 11 on Monday. The build (22000.51) comes on the Dev Channel of the Windows Insider program and is now available for users to download and try.

In this article, we’re going over how you can install and try out the first official preview build of Windows 11.

Do keep in mind that if you don’t meet the minimum requirements for Windows 11, you may not see the update being available to you even if you’re in the Dev Channel of the Windows Insider Program.

Lastly, we strongly recommend that you don’t install this preview build on your everyday machine as there can be quite a lot of bugs, glitches and other rough edges that may impact your day to day work.

The process to get the update is rather simple. Once you’re sure you meet the minimum requirements, follow these steps to get the update running on your machine.

Step 1: Press the Windows key and search for Windows Insider Program. Click the corresponding search result.

You should see most of the visual improvements Microsoft talked about when announcing the OS earlier this month in this build. However, support and Android apps and Microsoft Teams integration is not included in this build. You can check out this page for more information on what you’re getting with this build.
