Amazon’s Fire TV Stick is an HDMI device that can turn any ordinary TV or display with an HDMI port into a smart TV allowing you to stream content from your favourite platforms like Netflix or Youtube.
However, just like with every other piece of tech, the Firestick also faces occasional bugs and glitches. In this article, we’re going over how to fix the Amazon Fire TV Stick not loading the home screen.
Power cycle your router
Restarting your router can fix a bunch of seemingly random issues with your network, which could, in turn, be causing problems with the device. If you don’t have internet connectivity or an active connection, you will get such issues.
So try restarting your router to rule out any network issues that may be causing problems.

Check the input source
TV’s with multiple HDMI inputs can decide between input sources. Check to ensure you’ve got the right input source active in your TV corresponding to the HDMI port your Fire TV Stick is plugged into.Â
Try a different HDMI port
There’s also a possibility that the HDMI port you’re using on your TV is broken. Try switching to a different HDMI port and changing the corresponding input source to see if that solves your problem.
If the aforementioned method didn’t help, your device probably isn’t facing a hardware issue. Try out the fixes mentioned below to see if the Amazon Fire Stick not loading home error gets resolved.

Check Amazon Servers
There’s a possibility that the black screen you’re seeing could be because of an issue with Amazon’s servers. Check to see if there are any updates about the servers being down and if there are, all you can do is wait.
Update the Firestick
The issue can also be caused by outdated firmware on the Firestick. Try updating it to see if that solves your problem. To update your device, head over to Fire TV Settings > My Fire TV > About > Check for System update.
