Casio announced its first G-Shock series smartwatch, GSW-H1000, which runs WearOS, on Thursday. The flagship watch from the sports-focused G-Squad lineup will retail for $699 in US or £599 in UK.

G-Shock GSW-H1000 boasts 200-meter water resistance, shock resistance and an optical sensor for measuring the heart rate, among other sensors.

While Casio has dabbled with Google’s smartwatch OS in the past, this is the first G-Shock watch to run WearOS.

The GSW-H1000 features a 1.2-inch dual layer TFT colour display, monochrome LCD (360×360), a microphone, and a titanium case back with titanium carbide finish which ensures resistance against abrasion and corrosion.

The dual-layer screen features a three-tier layout UI that can customise what the users want to see and keep multiple screens easily accessible.

The battery charges in approximately three hours and delivers a backup of 1.5 days on normal use and a month in the ‘timepiece’ mode, which disables WearOS but keeps the sensors turned on.

G-Shock GSW-H1000 supports Bluetooth 4.2 (LE) and WiFi (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n). The pre-loaded Casio app provides 15 activities and 24 indoor workout options.

In addition to the optical heart rate sensor, the watch also features a compass, altitude and air pressure sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope and GPS (GLONASS and MICHIBIKI (QZSS)).
