Valorant is a first-person shooter from Riot Games with traits that make it seem like an amalgamation of CS:GO and Overwatch. Its characters, known as Agents, feature unique abilities which work with a wide variety of weapons and play styles. So, what’s better than to have a unique name to identify yourself in such a game?
The introduction of Riot ID, allows players to have more control over how they name their character. Its hashtag system allows for combinations, which can let you use a name that may otherwise have already been taken.
Before changing your in-game name, keep in mind, Riot has policies governing player names, which prevent the use of hate speech, slurs, profanity, vulgarity or insults.
There are two ways with which you can change your name in Valorant, the steps to do have been listed below.
Once changed, you will be unable to update your Riot ID for the next 30 days. Hence, make sure you pick a name that you will be content with for this duration.

Method 1: From Valorant’s Riot Client
Open Valorant’s Riot Client on your PC and follow the steps listed below.
Step 1: Log into your Riot Games Account with your username.
Your username and Riot ID are two separate pieces of information. The latter is visible to other players whereas the former is known only to you and is required purely for logins.
Step 2: Click on the gear-shaped icon in the bottom-right corner.
Step 3: Click on Edit My Account; this will lead you to Riot’s Account Management page.
Step 4: On the account management page, click on Riot ID and then on the checkmark to create your new in-game name.

Method 2: From Riot’s League of Legends website
Alternatively you can also change your name through Riot’s League of Legends website by following the steps below.
Step 1: Log into your Riot Games Account with your Riot Username.
Step 2: Click on Settings in the drop down menu; this leads to Riot’s Account Management page.
In some cases, you may have to re-enter your passcode and verify your identity via two-step verification at this stage.
Step 3: Click on Riot ID and then on the checkmark to create your new in-game name.
