Spotify has emerged as one of the finest and hence arguably the most popular music streaming apps online with a library of tens of millions of songs and thousands of podcasts. Given the sea of music and audio content, you can lend your ears to, it can become overwhelming to find the right song at the right time and to tackle this issue, Spotify allows you to create playlists in a few easy steps.
There are two ways using which you can create a Spotify playlist on PC and smartphone — while adding a song to a playlist or via Your Library in the Spotify app — and in this article, we’re going to go through both the methods.
How to create a playlist on Spotify for PC?
There are two methods to create a playlist on Spotify for PC. Open the Spotify app on your PC and follow the steps mentioned below to create a playlist.
Method 1: Via the Library
Step 1: Click on the New Playlist option at the bottom-left of the Spotify app display.
Step 2: On the pop-up box, input the name of your playlist in the first box, followed by a brief description. You can also add a playlist cover from the images on your PC by clicking on Choose image option. Once you’re ready, click on the Create button to make your Spotify playlist.

Method 2: Via a song
Follow the steps mentioned below to make a playlist by adding a song.
Go to any song or playlist that you want to include in your new playlist and then tap on the three-dots (overflow) icon beside the song or at the top-right of the playlist (as shown in the screenshot below above and below, respectively). Then from the dropdown menu select Add to Playlist > New Playlist.
The playlist will automatically be created using the name of the song or playlist, which can be changed later.

How to create a playlist on Spotify app for Android and iOS?
Open the Spotify app for Android or iOS and follow either one of the steps below to create a playlist on Spotify.
Method 1: Via the Library
Open the Spotify app and follow the steps mentioned below.
- Tap on the three-dots (overflow) icon beside the song or at the top-right of the playlist.
- From the options that appear, tap on Add to Playlist.
- On the next page, tap on New Playlist.
- Add a name for your new playlist on the next page.
- Then hit Create.

Method 2: Via a song
To create a playlist by adding a song, follow the steps below.
- Tap on the triple-dot menu button beside the song that you wish to add to the playlist you’re about to create.
- On the next page, tap on Add to Playlist.
- Add a name for your new playlist on the next page.
- Then hit Create.
You’ll be able to access your created playlists in the Your Library tab of the smartphone app.
