Instagram is a Facebook-owned social media platform where the users upload the pictures and locations. As is the case with most social media platforms, you can have some privacy concerns with the platform and in such a case, deleting the account is the right choice.

Delete Instagram account permanently
Here are the steps to delete your Instagram account permanently. Before continuing further, sign in with your Instagram account and then go to Instagram’s account deletion page.
Step 1: Here, select the reason why you want to delete the account.
Step 2: Now, type your Instagram password again to verify. When you are done, click on the Permanently delete my account button.

Deactivate Instagram account temporarily
In case, you want to deactivate an Instagram account temporarily, here are the steps to do that.
Step 1: Sign in with your Instagram account and then tap on the profile option at the top right of the screen. Check out the screenshot below to get an idea.
Step 2: Next, tap on Edit Profile option marked with a gear icon.
Step 3: Scroll down and then click on Temporarily disable my account.
Step 4: Select the reason, type your password and then click on Temporarily disable my account.

How to reactivate your Instagram account?
You can reactivate your Instagram account only if you have deactivated the account and not in the case of permanent deletion. To reactivate your Instagram, sign in with your email ID, phone number or Instagram ID and you are good to go.

How to access and download my Instagram data?
If you are too active on Instagram, it would be better to access and download your data before deleting the account. Here are the steps to access your Instagram data on PC.
Step 1: Go to the profile option and then click on Edit.
Step 2: Here, select Privacy and Security.
Step 3: To see all the data, click on Account Data and to download data, click on Data Download. If you have selected data download, you will get an email from Instagram within 48 hours.

Download data via the Instagram app
To access and download Instagram data from the app, follow the instructions given below.
- Sign in on the Instagram app and then tap on the profile icon at the bottom right of the screen.
- Next, tap on the hamburger icon at the top right and a drop-down menu will open up.
- Tap on Settings at the bottom.
- After that, go to Security >Download Data.
- Type the email where you want the data to transfer and then tap on Request Download.
