Understanding channel deletion
Before diving into the deletion process, it’s important to note a few key points:
- Permissions: Only Workspace Owners and Admins can delete public channels. For private channels, the channel creator or any member with admin rights can perform the deletion.
- Irreversible Action: Deleting a channel is permanent and cannot be undone. All messages and files within the channel will be lost.
- Archiving Alternative: If you’re unsure about permanently deleting a channel, consider archiving it instead. Archived channels are hidden from the main channel list but can be restored later if needed.
