With Disney+ joining forces with Hotstar to launch in India, one of the most popular streaming platforms in India received even more recognition and scores of additional Disney titles, including movies, documentaries, series and cartoons.

One of the major appeals of Hotstar has been that it offers seven native Indian languages — Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada — in addition to English and this also carries over for the available subtitles on the platform.

Hotstar’s collaboration with Disney+ brought a vast collection of titles and most of the ones not in the native language have an option of turning on the subtitles to make it easier to understand.

If the audio is muffled or you’re unable to understand the accents, here is how you can enable subtitles in Hotstar on Android and iOS app, as well as their website on PC.

How to turn on subtitles on Disney+ Hotstar app for Android and iOS?

Go to the video you want to watch on Disney+ Hotstar app for Android or iOS and follow the steps mentioned below to enable or disable subtitles on Hotstar.

Step 1: On the playback window, tap once so that the options appear. Select Audio & Subtitles from the bottom of the screen.

Step 2: Under Subtitles select English to turn on subtitles and Off to turn off subtitles on Hotstar.

If you’re using your Android or iOS device in portrait orientation, follow the steps mentioned below.

• Tap on Settings on the video playback window.
• From the Settings menu at the bottom, tap on Subtitles.
• From the next list of options on the same menu at the bottom, select English to turn on subtitles and Off to turn off subtitles on Hotstar.

How to turn on subtitles on Disney+ Hotstar website on PC?

On the playback window, hover to reveal the options. On the bottom-right, click on the comments icon and then under Subtitles select English to turn on subtitles and Off to turn off subtitles on Hotstar.
