WearOS 3 incoming

The Gen 6 from Fossil is the first smartwatch to use the Wear OS3 platform after Samsung unveiled its Galaxy Watch 4 a few weeks back. Both the watches are quite different in their design approach, but the software experience should be relatively the same, thanks to Google and Samsung’s unified platform.

The new device’s core is the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ paired up with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. Running on the Wear OS 3. these internals should be quick enough to give the watch a stable and smooth software experience. There’s a 1.28-inch touchscreen display on the watch as well.

While Fossil hasn’t declared a number on the battery capacity yet, they seem to be quite confident in the new watch’s battery performance. The company claims that the battery can charge up to 80% in under 30 minutes. Along with Fossil’s Smart Battery modes and the Wear 4100+ users can expect 24 hours or even more in terms of battery life.

In addition to the wellness updates released in 2020, the Gen6 features an upgraded heartbeat sensor for improved continuous tracking and better signal accuracy. There’s a new SpO2 sensor in there as well. And then there are the usual smartwatch sensors such as Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Compass, Altimeter, PPG Heart Rate, SpO2, Off-body IR, Ambient Light.
