Add page numbers in Word on Windows
To add page numbers in Word on Windows, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Open the Word document, click on the Insert tab, then click on the Page Number in the Header & Footer section.

Step 2: Select the location for the page number and then select the style you want for your page numbers.

Step 3: If you don’t want to start the page number to appear on the first page then checkmark the box beside Different First Page in the Options section.

Step 4: To start the numbering as one from the second page, click on the Page Number and then click on Format Page Numbers.

Step 5: Set the Start at to zero and click on the OK button.

Step 6: After you are done, click on the Close Header and Footer.

Add page numbers in Word on macOS
To add page numbers in Word on macOS, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Open the Word document on your Mac, click on the Insert tab, click on the Page Number icon, and then click on the Page Number.
Step 2: Select a location and pick an alignment style for the page numbers. Word automatically numbers every page except the title pages.
Step 3: If you want to change the numbering style, click on Format and choose the formatting you want.
