How to insert a Bullet in Microsoft Word?

Bulleted lists are the most common list formats for Word users, but that’s not what we’re talking about here. What if you want to add a bullet in the middle of a sentence or end of a paragraph? Well, we’ve got the answer for you.

You can either use the shortcut key to insert a bullet in your Word document or go the entire way to do it by yourself using the Symbol tool.

The shortcut key to insert a bullet point in Word is Alt + 0149. Press the digits preferably on the Numpad of your keyboard with the Alt key pressed alongside. You can also change the Shortcut key for inserting a bullet in Word using our guide at the end.

Inserting a Bullet in Word

Put your cursor wherever you want to insert the non-breaking space in Word and follow the steps mentioned below.

Step 1: Click on the Insert option from the toolbar menu at the top. Then click on Symbol (located at the extreme right of the options that appear in the toolbar) and select More Symbols from the dropdown menu.

Step 2: In the Symbols tab, click on the dropdown arrow button in the box to the right of Subset and select General Punctuation from the options that appear in the list.

Step 3: Then select the Bullet icon from the options that appear and click on the Insert button at the bottom of the dialog box.

You can also copy the character code 2022 and enter that in the box below the tiled list of symbols.

How to change the shortcut key for Bullet in Word?

Step 1: Click on the Insert option from the toolbar menu at the top. Then click on Symbol (located at the extreme right of the options that appear in the toolbar) and select More Symbols from the dropdown menu.

Step 4: On the Customize Keyboard window, enter the new keyboard shortcut that you want to assign for Bullets in Word and press the Assign button at the bottom-left of the dialog box.
