LG V40 ThinQ with 5 camera design announced: 10 key features

LG V40 ThinQ featuring five cameras (three rear and two front) has been launched by LG Electronics, sporting a top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and slimmer bezels than before with a 6.4-inch FullVision OLED display.

The device is going to be available in two variants with internal storage of 64GB and 128GB coupled with 6GB of RAM for either one.

The price and availability of the LG v40 ThinQ hasn’t been announced yet. We’ll update this section of the website as and when the company announces it.

Display

The LG V40 ThinQ comes with a 6.4-inch QHD+ (3120 x 1440) FullVision display with a aspect ration of 19.5:9 and a pixel density of 538ppi.

Design 

The device features a tempered glass back with matte finish, weighs 169 grams and has the following measurements – 158.7 x 75.8 x 7.7mm. It is also carries a IP68 water and dust resistance certification. The V40 ThinQ is also military grade MIL-STD 810G compliant for durability.

Storage and memory

The V40 ThinQ comes with 6GB RAM coupled with either 64GB or 128GB internal memory that can be 3expanded up to 2TB via a microSD card.

Processor 

LG’s flagship device comes with Qualcomm’s flagship octa-core Snapdragon 845 processor that clocks at 2.8GHz and is supported by Adreno 630 GPU.

Camera

One of the first few companies to try this, the LG V40 ThinQ sports a triple camera design on the rear with a 16MP super wide lens (F1.9 / 1.0μm / 107°), 12MP standard lens (F1.5 / 1.4μm / 78°) and a 12MP telephoto lens (F2.4 / 1.0μm / 45°) with dual PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus).

At the front the V40 sports a dual camera setup with a 8MP standard lens (F1.9 / 1.12μm / 80°) and a 5MP wide-angle lens (F2.2 / 1.12μm / 90°).

The rear camera comes with a ‘triple shot’ feature that stitches together images captured by each of the three lenses into a short video file. Other camera featuers include Cine Shot, 3D Light Effect, Makeup Pro, Custom Backdrop, My Avatar and AR Emoji.

Audio

The LG V40 ThinQ also becomes the first device from the company to carry the ‘Audio tuned by Meridian’ label. It features a 32-bit HiFi Quad DAC and Boombox speakers that were first introduced on LG G7 ThinQ, which produces double the bass reflex of any other smartphone speakers.

OS

It will run on Android 8 Oreo out-of-the-box and will be updated to Android 9 Pie later this year.

Battery

The LG V40 ThinQ is backed by a 3300mAh battery unit that can be charged via a USB Type-C 2.0 (3.1 compatible) connector. The device also supports wireless charging; quick charging via Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology and is also Qualcomm Quick Charge 4 compatible.

Connectivity

It has a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, face recognition, fingerprint sensor (at the back) among other sensors such as GPS, ambient sensor and more.

Colours

The LG V40 ThinQ is going to be available in the following colours: new aurora black, new platinum gray, new moroccan blue, and carmine red.
