How to fix the issue?
If your Samsung ice maker is not working then we have mentioned some ways to help you fix the issue.
Check for ice build-up or ice blockage
The ice build-up or ice blockage in the ice maker tray or dispenser tube is one of the most common causes for the Samsung ice maker not working issue. Check the ice tray and if you see an ice build-up, then remove it, if your refrigerator model has an auto defrost feature then you can use it to defrost your refrigerator.
Check the Ice machine process is turned on or off
Many refrigerator models have this feature where you can turn off and on the ice-making process if your refrigerator is not dispensing ice then that means that the ice-making process is turned off by mistake. So check whether that feature is turned off or on, if off then turn it on.
Check the water inlet valve
Samsung ice maker opens the water inlet valve whenever it requires water to make ice, so the water inlet valve plays an important role in this problem you are facing. The water inlet valve might get clogged with time by the mineral deposits trapped by the water valve. If the ice maker is not getting a proper water supply then that is obvious that some problems will occur. Check the water inlet valve for clogs and mineral deposits and clean it, if you think the water inlet valve is damaged then you can replace it too.
Check the water pressure
It is mentioned in the Samsung manual that the recommended water pressure for an ice maker is 20 psi. To check the water pressure you can use the pressure gauge however you can also check it by accessing the waterline and observing the water flow. If you think the water is coming slowly then you need to adjust the plumbing.
Check the water filter
If your refrigerator model has a water filter then Samsung recommends getting it changed every six months. Check the water filter for any clogs as it is possible that the water filter is clogged and that is why the ice maker is not working, if you think it’s been more than six months since you last changed the water filter then get it changed.
Check the auger motor
The auger motor is responsible for stirring and dispensing ice from the ice maker so if the auger motor is damaged then the ice maker will not work. If the ice maker is making a lot of sounds and not dispensing the ice then the auger motor may be damaged. To check the auger motor remove the ice bucket from the refrigerator and turn the augur motor by hand, if the motor moves freely then check it with a multimeter for its continuity to check if it is damaged or not. It can be a tough task to remove the augur motor, so better call a trained technician for that.
