Outdated Server error

If Minecraft shows you that it ‘failed to connect to the servers’ or you have an ‘outdated server’, do not worry. This can happen due to some servers taking time to update to the latest one. Other reasons include the following:

Unsupported version

The version of the server that you are trying to launch is now old and is no longer supported by the latest version of Minecraft. It is probably an outdated version by allowing you to play on some servers and not on others.

Solution: You can solve this by switching to the latest version. You can also inform the service administrator of this issue and ask them to update it to the current version.

Incorrect version

This error can also occur if you join a server different from the version you are trying to launch. The Minecraft launcher is using the latest version, but the server that you trying to connect to has not been updated yet.

Solution: You can relaunch the Minecraft game on your server. You can switch back to the older version on your launcher, as the server might still be on that version. If that does not work, you can contact the server’s owner to change the game to the newest version.

Beta program

This error message may also come up if you are a part of any Xbox Beta Insider Player program.

Solution: You can leave the beta program as the other players you want to play with may not be a part of this program. By leaving, you can launch Minecraft without any hassles.

Realm issues

If this issue crops up when you try to join a Minecraft Realms server, then this indicates that you have not updated to the latest version.

Solution: Replace your Minecraft Realm version with the current one from the servers.
