Social networks are all over the internet and serving various different kinds of niche and one of them happens to be the professional social media platform, Linkedin. While Linkedin boasts of being the home to professionals online, enabling them to connect with others virtually, similar to other social platforms on the internet — and life — it’s plagued by bullies and trolls.
If you’re facing an issue with a user on Linkedin and want to block them or have mistakenly blocked the wrong user and can’t figure out how to unblock them, here is how to do either in a few simple steps.
How to block someone on LinkedIn?
Once you block a user on Linkedin, you’ll no longer be connected to them, any endorsements or recommendations from the person will also be removed and neither of you will appear in each other’s suggestions on the platform or be able to search for one another.
On PC
Login to your account on Linkedin.com, go to the user’s profile whom you want to block and follow the steps mentioned below to block a Linkedin user.
Step 1: Click on the More… button to the right of the user’s profile picture. From the dropdown list, click on Report/Block option.
Step 2: On the pop-up box, click on Block (username).
Step 3: On the confirmation page of the pop-up box, click on the Block butotn.

On LinkedIn app
Open the Linkedin app on your smartphone, go to the user’s profile whom you want to block and follow the steps mentioned below to unblock someone on Linkedin.
- Tap on the More button.
- From the options at the bottom of the screen, select Report or block.
- On the pop-up box, tap on Block (username).
- Then on the confirmation prompt, tap on the Block button.

How to unblock someone on LinkedIn?
Once you unblock a user, your profile is no longer hidden to them and you will be able to send them messages and have a conversation. However, if you want to, you’ll need to connect with them again as the connection is deleted as soon as one of you blocks the other.
Also, after you’ve unblocked someone on Linkedin, you can’t block them again for 48 hours.
On PC
Login to your Linkedin account on PC and follow the steps mentioned below to unblock a user you had previously blocked.
Step 1: Click on the Me option from the toolbar at the top. From the dropdown menu, click on Settings & Privacy under Account.
Step 2: On the next page, click on Privacy from the options at the top, then click on Blocking and hiding from the sidepanel to the left. Finally, click on Change button beside Blocking.
Step 3: The complete list of users you’ve blocked will appear. Click on the Unblock button beside the Linkedin user you want to unblock.
Step 4: On the confirmation prompt, enter your password in the box and then click on the Unblock member button.

On LinkedIn app
Open the Linkedin app on your smartphone and follow the steps mentioned below to unblock someone on Linkedin.
- Tap on your profile picture icon at the top-left of the app.
- From the options on the side panel to the left, tap on Settings.
- Then on the next page, tap on Privacy from the options at the top.
- Then scroll down and tap on Who you’re blocking.
- The complete list of users you’ve blocked will appear. Tap on the Unblock button beside the Linkedin user you want to unblock.
- : On the confirmation prompt, enter your password in the box and then click on the Done button.
