Change name in Genshin Impact
To change your main character’s name in Genshin Impact, we will simply edit the in-game nickname. The steps to do so are as follows:
Step 1: Launch the game and click anywhere on the screen to log into your profile
Step 2: Press the Escape key to bring up the main menu, and click the edit icon next to your name.
Step 3: Click on Edit Nickname.
Step 4: In the new window, enter the new nickname and click on Confirm to save the change.
And that’s how you change name in Genshin Impact.
Once you change the nickname, other players and friends can see the new name appear in their friend list and co-op player search lists. Setting a nickname is not prerequisite, as player names are not unique fields, and two users can set the same name.
The game distinguishes between accounts using each player’s UID number, which is a unique number assigned to each user. Users can change their names as many times as they want, and changes can be made at any point of any quest. The same menu can be used to change a player’s avatar, signature, and name card as and when required.
Genshin Impact is currently on version 5.4, which was released on February 12, 2025. Version 5.4 introduced a new playable Anemo character, Yumemizuki Mizuki. The new character banner is available alongside the re-run banner of Hydro healer Sigewinne.
