What is the Dell BIOS key?

The BIOS is a crucial part of any computer and lets users control various aspect of their machines. Different manufacturers have different keys for getting into the BIOS, which generally is only allowed during boot.

In this article, we’re taking a look at the BIOS key on Dell machines and how you can get into the BIOS.

Dell BIOS keys

The key to access BIOS for Dell Dimension, Inspiron, Latitude, Inspiron One 2020, 2305, 2320, 2330 All-In-One and Inspiron is F2 or Fn+F2.

On Precision models the BIOS is accessed by using F12 or Fn+F12

Note that it’s not recommended that you hold down the F2 key because the system can misinterpret it for a stuck key and ignore the command. Some models use the F12 key to enter the BIOS, so if the former doesn’t work out for you, you can always try the F12 key.

How to open Dell BIOS using Windows settings?

If you’re having trouble entering the BIOS with F2 or F12, you can try going through Windows Settings.

Step 1: Press Windows Key + I to open Windows Settings. Click on Updates and Security.

Step 2: Head over to the Recovery panel from the left pane and click on Restart now under Advanced startup.

Step 3: When your PC restarts, click on Troubleshoot.

Step 4: On the next screen, click Advanced options.

Step 5: Finally, click on UEFI Firmware Settings. 

Step 6: On the next page, click on the Restart button.

Your system will now boot into the BIOS.
