Google Assistant Interpreter mode: List of supported languages

  • 3 min read

Google released the interpreter mode, which provides real-time translations, for its Assistant on Google Home devices and other Assistant-enabled smart speakers, displays and clocks earlier this year in February and was rolled out to the Assistant app for Android and iOS in last week.

While 29 languages are supported by the interpreter mode on smart speakers, clicks and displays, the Assistant app supports 44 languages. Here we list out all the languages supported across devices to get you a better idea of whether the Assistant’s real-time translation feature will be useful for you during your travels or in case you wish to pick up a new language.

To use the interpreter mode on a device, you’ll need to say phrases like, “Hey Google, be my German translator” or “Hey Google, help me speak Spanish” and you’ll begin to see and hear the conversation on your phone, which can either be carried forward by speaking or typing.
