Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL launched: Price, availability and specs

The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have been launched by the company at their MadebyGoogle event in New York on October 9, 2018, and have been made available for preorder.

Both the devices share a lot of specs and features including the processor, colours, cameras, memory and storage, battery, sensors, audio systems, build quality, operating system, AR/VR Google Daydream capabilities and a few other features.

The main differentiators of the devices are their dimension, display, the absence of a notch on the Pixel 3 and price.

The Google Pixel 3 starts selling at $799 and the Google Pixel 3 XL will retail at a starting price of $899.

Both the devices will go on sale on October 18 in the USA with Verizon and will also be available unlocked on the Google Store.

They will hit 12 more markets globally, including four new ones, on November 1. The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be available in the following 13 countries:

In India, the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be available online on Flipkart and in the following brick and mortar stores and their digital counterparts: Reliance Digital, Croma, Poorvika, Bajaj Electronics, Vijay Sales.

The Google Pixel Stand for wireless charging will retail for $79. Both the devices and the accessories for them are available on pre order.

  • Display: The Pixel 3 features a 5.5-inch Full HD+ flexible OLED display at 443 ppi, an aspect ratio of 18:9 and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It also supports HDR. The variant follows the traditional styling and doesn’t feature a notch.
  • Design: The device is encased in an aluminium frame with a hybrid coating that gives it a matte finish with a glossy look at the rear, which sports a soft touch glass (Corning Gorilla Glass 5). It is IPX8 dust and water protection certified.
  • Rear Camera: The rear camera of the Pixel 3 is a 12.2MP dual-pixel lens with autofocus, dual pixel phase detection, optical and electronic image stabilisation, spectral and flicker sensor and a 76-degree field of view. It can capture slow-motion videos at 1080p (120fps) and 4K videos at 30 fps.
  • Front Camera: The front camera on the Pixel 3 sports a dual-lens 8MP (wide-angle and telephoto) with a 107-degree and 75-degree field of view, respectively.
  • Processor: Pixel 3 is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor that will clock at speeds up to 2.5GHz and is supported by Adreno 630 GPU. In addition, Pixel Visual Core technology and Titan M security module have also been added to the setup.
  • Memory and storage: The Google Pixel 3 comes with 4GB RAM and two options of 64GB and 128GB storage.
  • Battery: The device is backed by a 2915mAh battery that can be charged via a USB type-C charger, supports 18W fast charging and also Qi wireless charging.
  • OS: The Google Pixel 3 will run on the latest Android 9 Pie OS and will be powered by Google Assistant. The device will receive a minimum of 3 years of OS and security updates.
  • Sensors: It comes with the following sensors: Active edge, magnetometer, barometer, proximity and ambient sensors, accelerometer, gyrometer, Android sensor hub, advanced x-axis haptics for sharper and defined response, and a back-mounted Pixel Imprint fingerprint sensor for fast unlocking.
  • Connectivity: The Pixel 3 supports a single nano-SIM, supports NFC, Google Cast, Bluetooth 5.0 + LE and Wi-Fi 2.4GHz + 5.0GHz 802.11a/b/g/n/ac. For location services, it uses GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou.
  • Audio: The device sports dual front-firing stereo speakers and 3 mics with noise suppression.
  • Colours: It will be available in the following three colours: just black, clearly white and not pink
