Charging time of Apple Watches
Whether you are using your Apple Watch throughout the day or in adverse conditions that involve outdoors or water, a need for long battery life is expected from Apple’s products. Apple Watch delivers on this guarantee by working for 18 hours without charge, depending on your use.
An Apple Watch can take 45 to 90 minutes to reach full charge depending upon the model. In the table given below, there are four Apple Watch models given according to the amount of charge:
Apple Watch model | Charge up to 80% | Charge up to 100% |
---|---|---|
Apple Watch Ultra | 60 minutes | 90 minutes |
Apple Watch Series 8 | 45 minutes | 75 minutes |
Apple Watch Series 7 | 45 minutes | 75 minutes |
Apple Watch SE | 90 minutes | 150 minutes |
From the table given above, you can discern that older models of Apple Watches take longer to charge. The charging is also dependent on the cable and adapter used. Apple recommends using an Apple USB-C Magnetic Fast Charging Cable, recognisable by the aluminium strip around the magnetic charger, to fast charge Apple Watch Series 7, 8, and Ultra. Additionally, Apple also advises the use of either 18W, 20W, 29W, 30W, 61W, 87W, or 96W USB-C power adapters.
Charging your Apple Watch also depends on the conditions of your surroundings as the charge time can vary according to a change in the region, settings, or environmental factors. The Apple Watch has been modified to work for different wearers according to their patterns and frequency of use.
Tracking sleep
If you want to use your Apple Watch to track your daily sleep habits, you will have to maintain a regular schedule. To use your watch at night, place it on charge for at least 45-60 minutes before heading off to sleep. Now, the sleep-tracking app will not interfere with the battery of your watch, hence the battery will last till morning.
In the morning, you can place your watch on charging for 45-60 minutes or even 30 minutes if you are in a hurry, while you get ready or freshen up to begin your day.
Battery saving
From watchOS 7 onwards, Apple Watch can utilize the Optimized Battery Charging feature to prolong the lifespan of your Apple Watch battery. It learns your daily charging habits, thus pressing on the idea to be regular with your charging. This feature helps minimise the time your Watch would spend getting charged and slows down any wear on the battery.
The latest watchOS 9 has a low-power mode that turns off or changes certain features to extend battery life. The more features you use, including listening to music, calling or messaging, or during a workout, the lesser amount or hours of battery life is left.
