The taskbar is a space at the bottom of your screen where you can add your most-used applications for quick access. Additionally, the taskbar contains other information like the weather, date, time, and available WiFi connections, alongwith the signal strength.
It is one of the most important features of the Windows operating system user interface. However, many of you may want to resize the taskbar for a much bigger main screen.
In this article, we’ll show you how to use Windows Registry without installing pesky third-party software.
Make the taskbar smaller using the Windows Registry
If you’re also wary of third-party tools, you’ll have to use the Windows Registry to make the taskbar smaller in Windows 11. You’ll need to access the Windows Registry and tweak certain settings to do that.
Windows Registry is a database where all the important settings and information about Windows are stored. From here, a user can change the size, shape and performance of various user interface aspects.
That being said, Windows Registry is a delicate tool that requires expert handling. If you’re a novice, you should avoid tampering with these settings as it could affect the general functioning of Windows.
Now that you have understood the importance of Windows Registry let us use it to make the taskbar smaller in Windows:
Step 1: Head to the taskbar search bar, type Registry Editor, and then select the appropriate option.
Step 2: Now, copy and paste this address in the Windows Registry address bar as shown in the screenshot below: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
Step 3: Right-click on a space and head to New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
Step 4: Now, rename the new value as TaskbarSi.
Step 5: Now, double-click on the new value TaskbarSi and change the data to 0,1 or 2 as per your size preference for the taskbar. 0 means the smallest taskbar, while 1 is for medium and 2 is for large size.
Easy right? You can easily resize the taskbar in just a few clicks without using any third-party tools, making it smaller or larger.
