Requirements to share the AirTag
If you want to share an AirTag, you can use Find My. This way, the person borrowing it can check its location on a map. If it’s close by, Find My can make a sound to help locate it. You can even get the exact location if you’re using an iPhone that supports it. Importantly, those you share items with won’t get notifications about the items moving with them
You can share an AirTag with up to five other people, making six users for one item. But a few things need to be set up for this to work:
- Your Apple ID needs two-factor authentication turned on.
- The person you’re sharing with also needs their own Apple ID and must be signed in to iCloud with it. Child accounts won’t work for sharing.
- Both the owner and the borrowers need the iCloud Keychain turned on.
