Capturing Screenshots on any operating system makes it easier for users to capture, save and share information. While taking a standard screenshot is straightforward, capturing an entire webpage or a lengthy document often requires more advanced techniques.

This article discusses steps to capture scrolling screenshots on Edge, Google Chrome and from third-party software.

Use the built-in browser tool

All the web browsers support a web capture feature that allows you to capture partial, full and scrolling screenshots.

Take a scrolling screenshot on Edge

Taking a scrolling screenshot on Microsoft Edge is a really easy process, and here are the steps to do that:

Step 1: Open the webpage on Microsoft Edge that you want to capture, click on the Menu (triple horizontal dots) icon at the top right corner, and then, in the dropdown menu, click on Web Capture.

You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + S keys to start the web capture on Edge.

Step 2: Your screen will turn grey, and two options will appear on the top. Click on the Capture full page option.

Step 3: Capturing the whole page might take a few seconds, so be patient. The captured screenshot will appear in a new window; click the Save icon to save it. You also have the freedom to edit and share the screenshot in the same window.

Take a scrolling screenshot on Google Chrome

Scrolling screenshot on Google Chrome is tricky and will take a few extra steps. Here are the steps to do that:

Step 1: Press the Ctrl + Shift + I keys to open the inspect elements window.

Step 2: Now, press the Ctrl + Shift + P keys to access the Command menu. In the command menu, type Screenshot beside Run> and then in the search result, click on the Capture full size screenshot option.

The screenshot will automatically be saved in the Downloads folder.


Take a scrolling screenshot on Mozilla Firefox

Taking a scrolling screenshot on Mozilla Firefox is also a straightforward process, and here are the steps to do that:

Step 1: Press Ctrl + Shift + S to start the screen capture window and click Save full page.

Step 2: Now, click on the Download to save the screenshot.

Step 1: Download and install Snagit on your PC and launch it.

Step 2: Click on the Image tab, click the Scrolling Window option in the dropdown list beside Selection and then click the Capture button.

Step 3: Three orange arrows will appear in different directions; choose one that suits your needs.

Step 4: Once you click the arrow, Snagit will automatically start scrolling and capturing the screenshot. You can stop the scrolling at any time by clicking on the screen. The captured scrolling screenshot will appear in the Snagit editor window.

Step 5: Many tools are available to edit the images and screenshots; use them if you want to. After you are done, click on the File tab in the toolbar menu and click the Save or Save As option to save the file.
