Twitter is one of the most popular social media platforms, especially when it comes to public discussions about important and popular topics including social, cultural, political issues. To amplify your message and notify some people that you want to involve in the conversation, Twitter allows users to tag others in their tweets.
Tagging on Twitter isn’t limited to the text body of the tweets but you can also tag people in photos that you upload on the platform. For example, if you are uploading an image with your friends and you want to tag them or you are tweeting something and want to address or question them in the tweet.
Here we will guide you through how to tag someone on a Twitter post and photo on its website or Android and iOS apps.

Tagging someone on Twitter for Android and iOS
Launch the Twitter app and follow the steps below to tag someone on your tweet.
- Tap on the Compose Tweet (feather with a plus sign just above the message icon on the toolbar at the bottom-right of the screen.
- Type your tweet and give a space and type @ followed by the first few letters of the username you want to tag. Then select the user’s profile from the list that appears.
- On the next screen, you’ll see the tagged user’s profile appear as a link in blue.
You can now publish your tweet by tapping on the Tweet button on the top right-corner of the screen. The person who you’ve tagged will receive a notification, unless they’ve muted or blocked you.

Tagging someone on a Twitter photo on Android and iOS
Launch the app and follow the steps below to tag someone on a photo that you’ve added to your tweet.
- Tap on the Compose Tweet (feather with a plus sign) just above the message icon on the toolbar at the bottom-right of the screen.
- Then upload the image that you want to tweet and tap on the Who’s in this photo? option at the bottom-left of the image.
- A list of users you’ve engaged with recently will appear; tap on the person or search the username from the search box at the top. After selecting the people you want to tag, tap on the Done button, located at the top-right corner of the screen.
- All the tagged profiles will appear at the bottom of the image, where the Who’s in this photo? option was available earlier.
If you want to add more people to the photo tap on the names and the user list will appear, after you are done tagging, tap on Tweet button on the top right corner of the screen.

Tagging someone on Twitter’s website
Login to your account on Twitter.com on your PC and follow the steps below to tag someone on Twitter
Step 1: There are two ways to tweet. You can either do it from box at the top of the homepage or click on the Tweet button at the bottom of the menu on the left side of the screen.
Step 2: Type your tweet and give a space and type @ followed by the first few letters of the username you want to tag. Then select the user’s profile from the list that appears.
Step 3: All the tagged users will appear alongwith the text of your tweet as shown in the screenshot below.
After you’re done tagging click on the Tweet button at the bottom-right of the box.

Tagging someone on a Twitter photo on PC
Step 1: Upload the image you want to include in your tweet using the first icon at the bottom of the tweet box and then click on the Tag people option at the bottom-left of the image.
Step 2: A list of users you’ve engaged with recently will appear; tap on the person or search the username from the search box at the top. After selecting the people you want to tag, tap on the Done button, located at the top-right corner of the tweet box.
Step 3: All the tagged people will appear at the bottom-left of the image, where the Tag people option was available earlier.
If you want to add more people to the photo click on the names and the user list will appear, after you are done tagging, click on Tweet button on the top-right corner of the tweet box.
