A majority of Windows users will agree that the taskbar is one of the most important, if not the most important, Windows elements. However, since you’re looking at it pretty much all the time, it can be unsettling if something suddenly changes.
In this article, we’re going over a few fixes you can try if your taskbar goes white.
Check the accent colours
Your taskbar and a lot of other elements take their colour from the accent colour on your PC. You can check this to ensure you’ve got the right colour settings in place.
Step 1: Right-click the taskbar and click on Taskbar Settings.
Step 2: Click on Colours in the left panel.
Step 3: Scroll down and make sure that the Start, taskbar, and action center option is unchecked under Show accent colour on the following surfaces.
As an additional precaution, uncheck Automatically pick an accent colour from my background option under Choose your accent colour.

Check the dark mode
Windows 10 dark mode can be a lifesaver, especially for those who use their computers in the dark or at night. However, this mode can sometimes act up and mess with your taskbar settings.
There are system-wide settings you can use to set elements colours. You can take more control by following these steps.
Step 1: Right-click the taskbar and click on Taskbar Settings.
Step 2: Click on Colours in the left panel.
Step 3: Click the Choose your colour dropdown and select Custom.
Step 4: Choose colours according to your preference.
This should resolve your issue.

Change your region
At times changing to a region where Cortana isn’t supported can help you restore your taskbar.
Step 1: Press the Windows key and search for Region settings. Click on the corresponding search result.
Step 2: Under Country or region choose a region where Cortana isn’t supported. For example, Samoa.
Step 3: Now open the Start Menu, click on your profile picture and click Sign out.
Now sign back in with your Microsoft account and revert back to your original country settings.

Edit the registry
Lastly, if nothing else works, you can edit the registry to force the change. We strongly suggest making a backup of the registry beforehand.
Step 1: Press Windows key + R to open the Run prompt. Type regedit and press enter.
Step 2: Head over to the following directory.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search\Flighting\0\WhiteSearchBox
If the WhiteSearchBox directory, doesn’t exist, you can go ahead and make a folder of the same name.
Step 3: Inside the WhiteSearchBox folder, double click on the Value key and set its value to zero.
