Windows 11, Microsoft’s latest operating system, has brought a fresh look and enhanced features to the computing world. However, users may occasionally encounter issues that disrupt their systems’ seamless operation. One such issue is the hypervisor has been detected as an error.

This article discusses the causes of the A hypervisor detected error and a few ways to help you fix the error.


What causes this issue?

Here are a few reasons that might be affecting your Windows operations and causing the hypervisor-detected error:

  • Hyper-V is enabled.
  • Memory integrity is enabled.
  • Interference by credential guard.

How to fix the issue?

Here are a few ways that might help you fix the hypervisor has been detected error:

Disable Hyper-V

Windows 11 includes Hyper-V, Microsoft’s hypervisor platform. Conflicts may arise if you have another hypervisor installed, such as VMware or VirtualBox, triggering the ‘hypervisor has been detected’ error. To disable hyper-v, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Type Control Panel in the Windows search

Step 2: In the control panel, click on Programs.

Step 3: Click on the Turn Windows features on or off option.

Step 4: Uncheck the boxes beside Hyper-V, Virtual Machine Platform, Windows Hypervisor Platform and Windows Sandbox. After you are done, click on the OK button.

Step 5: It will ask for a restart to apply the change on your PC. Click on the Restart Now button.

Disable Memory Integrity

Windows 11 includes a security feature called Memory Integrity. This feature may interfere with certain hypervisors and cause the ‘hypervisor has been detected’ error. Here are the steps to disable it:

Step 1: In the Windows search, type Core isolation and click on the first result.

Disable Credential Guard

Credential Guard is another security feature in Windows 11 that can interfere with hypervisors. Here are the steps to disable it:

Step 1: Press the Windows + R to launch Run.

Step 2: In run, type Regedit and hit Enter.

Step 3: In Registry, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa. You can also copy and paste this in the address bar.

Step 4: Right-click on the space, click on New and then click on DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Step 5: Rename the file to LsaCfgFlags and then double-click it.

Step 6: Ensure the Value data is set to O, and click the OK button.

Step 7: Restart your PC.
