Apple’s AirTag is an innovative device designed to help you keep track of your belongings. However, like any technology, it may encounter issues preventing it from appearing in your Find My app.
This article discusses the cause of AirTag not showing up in the Find My app and a few methods to help you fix the issue.
What causes this issue?
Many people found that their AirTags didn’t appear in the Find My app on their iPhones after they updated to iOS 15. In case you’re unfamiliar, you can only track the location of an AirTag using the Find My app on an iPhone. There might be some issues with the iOS update, causing the AirTag to not show up in the Find My app.

How to fix the issue?
There are a few methods that might help you fix the issue and get your AirTag back online in Find My app:
Restart the device
A basic troubleshooting step is to restart your iPhone. This can help clear any temporary glitches or connection issues. After restarting, open the Find My app and check if your AirTag is visible.
Update your iPhone
Ensure your iPhone or iPad has installed the most recent iOS or iPadOS version. Updates usually come with bug fixes and enhancements that can help resolve problems related to device connections. Here are the steps:

- Go to the Settings app on your phone and tap on General.
- Tap on Software Update.
- If an update is available, install it and download the app again.
Use another device
You can check if your other Apple devices, like your Mac or iPad, still show the items linked to Find My. If those items are visible, but your AirTag isn’t, then the issue is with the AirTag itself, not the device you’re using, the Find My app to track it down.

Change the battery of your AirTag
Another reason your AirTag might not show up on Find My is if the battery is low or completely drained. Unfortunately, if you can’t locate it on Find My, you won’t be able to check its battery status at the moment. Replace the battery of your AirTag and check whether it is showing up in the Find My app now or not. The AirTag uses a CR2032 lithium battery.

Reset Location and Privacy
At times, your iPhone might have trouble connecting to an AirTag due to issues with Location Services. To fix this problem, you’ll need to reset the Location & Privacy settings on your iPhone. To reset the Location and Privacy, follow the steps below:

- Go to the Settings app on your iPhone and tap on General.
- Tap on the Transfer or Reset iPhone option.
- Tap on Reset.
- Tap on the Reset Location & Privacy option.

Reset AirTag
If nothing works, you can try resetting the AirTag as your last resort. You cannot reset it from the Find My app as it is not visible on the app, so you have to reset the AirTag manually.
