Can you add an AirTag to two separate phones?

No, you cannot add an AirTag on two separate phones with two separate Apple IDs.

AirTags are connected solely to the specific Apple ID they’re set up with. To add an AirTag to another phone using a different Apple ID, you must remove it from the previous iPhone.

If you have two iPhones using the same Apple ID, you can track the AirTag from either of those phones.

Ways to connect AirTag with another phone

With the Same Apple ID

If you’ve got two phones linked to the same Apple ID, you should be able to track and use the AirTag on both devices. This is because both phones share the same Apple ID, which is the one connected to the AirTag.

Share the AirTag

Apple’s AirTag allows its users to share the AirTag with family and friends. If you want to share your AirTag with someone, you can use the Find My app. This allows the person borrowing it to track its location on a map. If the AirTag is nearby, Find My can trigger a sound to make it easier to find. Using a compatible iPhone, you can even get the precise location.
