New Delhi-based Airtel is one of the largest telecom companies globally, with its operation spanning 18 countries in Asia and Africa. It also offers fixed-line, broadband, DTH services in dozens of cities pan-India.
In this article, we’re going to talk about how to change the password of your Airtel WiFi as well as how to check the data usage, including the remaining balance and how much data was used at what time in a particular day in detail.
You can change the Airtel WiFi password either by using the Android and iOS app or router settings.
How to change Airtel WiFi password using the app?
Open the Airtel app on your Android or iOS device and follow the steps mentioned below to change the WiFi password.
- You’ll find cards at the top of the app’s homepage that summarises details about your active subscriptions.
- Tap on the card with the landline/broadband details.
- On the next page, tap on Manage Services.
- On the next page, tap on Change Wi-Fi Password.
- On the next page, you’ll be prompted to enter the new WiFi name and password. You can either change your WiFi’s name or keep it the same.
- Once you’ve filled in the new password, tap on Submit.
If you want to use the router settings to change the WiFi password, follow the steps mentioned below.

How to change Airtel WiFi Password using the router?
Connect your PC to the WiFi and follow the steps mentioned below to change the password.
- Type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar.
- You’ll be redirected to the router admin settings page.
- Enter the username and password for the router. The default username is ‘admin’, and the password is ‘password’ in most cases. You can confirm this at the back or bottom of the router.
- Select Network or Wireless Network option from the menu (Screenshot)..
- Choose Wireless (2.4/5GHz).
- Scroll down to SSID Configuration.
- Select and edit the content in the box beside WPA Key to change the Airtel WiFi password. (Screenshot)
- Click on the Save button at the bottom.
You can also view the password by clicking on the Show Password checkbox below WPA Key.
If you’ve forgotten the router login details, you can try resetting them by pressing and holding the reset button on the router for about 15 seconds.

How to find Airtel broadband usage?
The Airtel app has another neat feature that allows users to find out the amount of data left in their subscription and basics statistics about the data that has been used alongwith a timeline of when it was used. To find your Airtel broadband usage, follow the steps mentioned below.
- You’ll find cards at the top of the homepage of the app that summarises details about your active subscriptions.
- Tap on the card with your landline/broadband details.
- On the next page, tap on Bills & Plans.
- On the next page, you’ll see the current internet quota, which includes the rolled-over data from the previous month as well as new data added to your subscription for the given month and any bonus data Airtel might’ve awarded you. (We’ve explained how to find bifurcated information about the data in a few simple steps below).
- Tap on Usage Analysis that is located near the bottom of the screen.
- On the next page, you’ll see daily stats for the time period you’ve selected. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen to find the ‘previous/next’ navigation buttons to see your Airtel broadband data usage for a particular day.

How to check your Airtel broadband data balance?
Open the Airtel app on Android or iOS and follow the steps mentioned below.
- You’ll find cards at the top of the homepage of the Airtel app that summarises details about your active subscriptions.
- Tap on the card with the landline/broadband details.
- On the next page, tap on Data Balance.
- You’ll see the details about the data under the Data Bifurcation heading.
You can also use these steps to find out the data balance of your Prepaid or Postpaid connection. Instead of tapping on the broadband card, tap on the Prepaid/Postpaid detail card on the homepage of the app and then tap on Data Balance on the next page.

How to add data to your subscription?
If you’re running out of data, you can also buy extra data via the Buy Packs option on the Data Balance screen.
You’ll see two types of internet packs that you can buy as an add-on to the subscription — Recurring and Smartbytes. As the name suggests, recurring packs will automatically renew your subscription every month unless you cancel them. On the other hand, Smartbytes is a one-time on-demand data service that helps you add data to the existing subscription for the month. The cost of both of these will be added to your monthly bill.
