  • 5 min read

Copy and Paste is probably the most used feature across any operating system ever. The feature lets users move files, text, images and whatnot from one location to another with just a few clicks.

So if the feature stops working all of a sudden, you might understandably be frustrated. In this article, we’re going over a few fixes to help you fix your Copy and Paste functionality.

Update Windows

The first thing you should do is to check if there’s a Windows update available. If it is, download and install the update immediately. Most Windows bugs are fixed in subsequent updates.

Disable your antivirus

Some overly protective antivirus software can interfere with your system’s functionality, in turn breaking some common features. Disable your antivirus temporarily to check if that’s the issue in your case.

Disable Send to Bluetooth Add-on in MS Office

An MS Office addon that lets you send files over to Bluetooth devices can also sometimes conflict with Windows’ Copy and Paste functionality. Try disabling this add on in MS Office to see if your PC starts working properly again.

Disable shared clipboard in Virtualbox

If you’re using VMWare’s Virtualbox to run virtual machines on your OS, chances are you’ve got the shared clipboard feature enabled which lets you copy and paste files across machines. Try disabling this feature to see if that restores your system’s Copy and Paste functionality.
