If you’re using an MSI laptop or a PC with an MSI motherboard, you would have come across something called the Nahimic companion. It’s supposed to be an audio enhancement utility that can improve your PC’s audio input and output capabilities.
In this article, we’re going over what is Nahimic and its companion app, and should you uninstall the tool?
What is Nahimic companion app?
As mentioned above, Nahimic is simply a suite of audio drivers aimed at enhancing your audio experience. The tool lets you experience up to 7.1 surround sound on your standard stereo equipment over wired, Bluetooth, USB or HDMI connections.
To control all the effects that it comes with, there’s an app called Nahimic Companion. It pops up every time you connect a new audio device to your PC and can be used to optimise the device according to the audio you’ll be listening to. There are multiple profiles for gaming, movies, communication and music that you can tune into and dial down exactly to your preferences.
The companion app even features a Sound Tracker tool that can show you where a sound has originated from in a game in a visual radar-like overlay. You can check the list of compatible games here.

Should you uninstall Nahimic?
Most users tend to find Nahimic useful once they play around with the companion app and dial some settings down to their liking. Uninstalling Nahimic won’t have a drastic effect on your PC; the audio might not sound as good.
We recommend giving Nahimic a try before you uninstall the tool. However, if you’ve made your mind, here’s how you can remove it from your PC.
How to uninstall Nahimic?
Step 1: Press Windows Key + R to open the Run prompt. Type services.msc and hit enter.
Step 2: Locate the Nahimic Service and stop it using the button in the toolbar.
Step 3: Press Windows Key + R to open the Run prompt. Type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.
Step 4: Expand Sounds, video and game controllers. Right-click the Nahimic mirroring device and either disable or delete the driver.
Step 5: Finally, you can remove the Nahimic companion app by pressing Windows Key + X and clicking on Apps & Features.
Step 6: Find the Nahimic app and click the Uninstall button.
