Pixel 6A comes to India: Price, specs and more

Two years after the last Pixel device launched in India (Pixel 4a), Google is now officially back in the country with yet another A series device from its lineup, the Pixel 6A. The phone was announced at this year’s Google I/O and maintains the same design language as Google’s in-house Tensor SoC found in the more expensive Pixel 6 lineup.

Google did confirm that the phone was coming to India back in May but hadn’t specified the launch date. Now we know that the phone is launching in the country via Flipkart.

The Pixel 6A will be available for sale starting July 28 coming in at ₹43,999 for the only variant available with 128GB storage and 6GB RAM.

There are also certain offers to avail with the phone’s launch. Axis Bank Credit and Debit cardholders can get an instant discount of ₹4,000, and there’s a 5% cashback on Flipkart Axis Bank cards. The new phone also gives you access to other Google products for a lower price.

  • For ₹4,999 you can get a Google Nest Hub.
  • For ₹1,999 you can get a Google Nest Mini.
  • For ₹4,999 you can get the Google Pixel Buds A-series.

The Pixel 6A, however, isn’t the only Google product making a comeback in the country this year. Google is also bringing its Pixel Buds Pro, which was announced alongside the Pixel 6a, and several other hardware products at this year’s Google I/O to India.

As mentioned before, the phone follows the same design language as the Pixel 6 series, with the prominent camera visor going all the way across at the back, and the fingerprint sensor is also under the screen rather than on the back of the phone. You get a slightly smaller 6.1-inch OLED display running at 1080p and 60Hz. The battery is also smaller, coming in at 4400mAh.

The camera specs, however, are a bit of a downgrade. The 6A goes back to the 12MP primary camera, the same hardware used by the Pixel 5A. There’s also a 12MP ultrawide and an 8MP pinhole selfie camera this time.

Camera features like Night Sight, Magic Eraser, and Real Tone will also be available. Additionally, Magic Eraser is getting another feature that lets users change the colour of distracting objects in the photo, blending in more naturally.

The price tag is a bit higher than what Indian customers would expect, especially considering that its $449 price tag in the US is significantly cheaper than what Google is selling the phone for in India.
