A recommendation on LinkedIn is a statement written by a user to commend their connection. Anyone can write a recommendation for their connection on LinkedIn—be it a colleague, student, or business partner.
Recommendations are useful, especially when you’re starting your career, as they add insights from your colleagues and seniors. They give prospective employees an idea of what they can expect while working with you, and they also help get your profile more attention.
In this article, we will explain how to write a recommendation using different methods on the LinkedIn website and app. We will then explain how to delete a recommendation that you’ve given on LinkedIn.

What are LinkedIn recommendations?
This handy feature on everyone’s beloved business-meets-social-media platform allows you to jot down brief testimonials for individuals you’ve collaborated with. Consider the online reviews for your present and past colleagues, team members, supervisors, or anyone else you’ve collaborated with.
Recruiters and hiring managers frequently review a person’s LinkedIn recommendations when deciding whether to interview or hire them. Although these short descriptions may not carry as much weight as a robust resume and a well-crafted cover letter, they offer extra insights into a person’s background and strengths from a third-party viewpoint.
Why should you write them?
It’s a simple way to express gratitude and boost their image for prospective employers or business relations. It’s also a smooth way to reestablish connections or remain memorable with past contacts without awkwardness. Once you add your recommendation, they’ll receive a notification, likely bringing a smile to their face and, hopefully, motivating them to reciprocate when you’re seeking your recommendations.
